Dave Bennett & The Memphis Speed Kings
Redwood Coast Music Festival 2018 Performing Artist
We're thrilled to have this band back at Redwood Coast Music Festival. The high energy, rockabilly of The Memphis Speed Kings was a festival favorite when they were last here. Check the schedule as they're only playing one headline set this year and you won't want to miss it!
The Memphis Speed Kings play vintage Rockabilly and Rock n’ Roll classics by Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Chuck Berry, Hank Williams, Mickey Gilley and more.
The band was formed in 2009 when jazz clarinetist Dave Bennett and drummer Hal Smith discovered a mutual admiration for music of “The Killer,” Jerry Lee Lewis.
Pianist Dave Bennett is the piano man and featured vocalist. In addition to his talent as a clarinet virtuoso, Dave is an ace “pumpin’ piano man” in the Jerry Lee tradition.
Hal Smith has played with many of the best traditional jazz and swing bands in the U.S., but also enjoys playing old school Rockabilly style drums.
Guitarist Gino Meregillano and bassist Joe Jazdzewski have outstanding Rockabilly credentials from their work with groups such as the Paladins, Hot Rod Lincoln, the Hayriders, Guana Batz, Cash Kings, the Lone Gunmen, and legendary bluesman James Harman!
Look for a room full of happy Rockabilly fans and a dance floor with a "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and you have found the Memphis Speed Kings!
