At 23 years old, guitarist and vocalist Sean “Mack” McDonald is one of the brightest young stars on today’s blues scene. He grew up in Augusta, GA where he was introduced to various forms of music through the church, relatives, and family friends. After starting out on drums at age two, he started playing piano at age three after hearing Ray Charles. Four years later, he started teaching himself guitar. His first gig was at the age of 10. He can smoothly master a range of styles from Robert Johnson to T-Bone Walker, from old country blues to Chuck Berry.
His influences range from B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Louis Jordan to Bill Jennings, Pete “Guitar” Lewis and many more. He’s been featured at major festivals including the King Biscuit Blues Festival, the Eastside Kings Festival, the Lucerne Blues Festival, and the University of Chicago Folk Festival - and regularly tours with his own band.
American music promoter Cadillac Zack from Los Angeles calls Sean
“ the greatest Blues discovery in the last 25 years “
